From Campus to Job Site
Few construction companies offer recent college graduates and undergrads the opportunity to enter and learn the industry like W. L. Butler. We actively recruit for full-time jobs and summer internships that provide invaluable experience. New team members and interns receive hands-on exposure to large projects, client interactions and other relevant work under the supervision of our professional team. We emphasize mentoring to impart the in-depth understanding and knowledge you need to kick-off your career in the right way.
The W. L. Butler Internship Program offers students an opportunity to apply the knowledge that they’ve gained in their academic studies to the field of construction. If you are interested in interning with W. L. Butler, please contact us at hr@wlbutler.com.
Each intern is paired with a mentor. Mentors are experienced construction professionals such as a Project Engineer, Project Manager, or Superintendent. Interns become a productive part of their project team and experience what working on a job and being part of a project team is truly like.
Interns are invited to have lunch with different departments such as Safety, Estimating, Accounting, etc. where they explain their role in the construction process and answer questions. This is a great way to build relationships and get an overview of different career path opportunities.
Interns will have the opportunity to travel to multiple job sites during the Jobsite Road Trip. This allows interns to meet new team members and see the variety of jobs that W. L. Butler works on such as Apartments, Retail, Health, Automotive, etc.
At the beginning of the internship, interns are asked what they would like to learn during their time on the W. L. Butler team. Interns set three goals that they hope to accomplish, and their mentor will work with them to complete the goals! This allows the internship to be tailored to the individual.
At the end of the internship we host an intern celebration. This is our chance to recognize the hard work and contributions made by our interns and to thank them for being an active and productive part of the team.
